After a cold night at Grand Canyon we opened out tents to a fresh layer of snow. Let me tell you, packing up a tent in the snow is not at all fun.
After leaving the canyon we drove down to Lake Powell, normally that is a stop for watersports but due to the freezing weather we just took a walk across the dam and then continued our journey over to Easten's Ranch. I don't actually know the name of the ranch, but the man who owns it, Easten, is an ex-Trek guide so its just known as his ranch by everyone on Trek. A few of us went western horse riding that evening across the ranch, through rock formations and rivers. It was really pretty but western took a bit of getting used to for me.
We had a fancy dress party that night in the 'party barn', with our $10 Walmart costumes, Lynsey, Katie and I went as ragdolls with woolen hair,
It was a late start the next morning as we packed up and went to Bryce Canyon. We did a 3 hour hike to the bottom of the canyon and back up, it was amazing, my favourite state park so far!
The tall rock columns are called hoodoos, they used to be rock fins but they've been slowly weathered away into fingerlike rocks.
After Bryce, we travelled over to Kodachrome Basin State Park where we took a walk to watch the sun set before another shivery night in the tent.
Today we drove to Zion National Park where we went on 4 hikes, to Emerald Pools and the Weeping Rock. The park is beautiful and the water was so clear, its a close second to Bryce for me.
Dinner is ready now, so I have to go, love you all lots
